The 76th Annual Alabama Deep Sea Fishing Rodeo will take place, July 18, 19, 20, 2008.  The weigh station will be open from 10:00am – 7:00pm Friday and Saturday, and from 10:00am – 5:00pm Sunday.  The ADSFR is the largest and oldest saltwater fishing tournament in the United States.  Last year we had over 3,100 anglers competing in 30 categories for an estimated $400,000 in cash and prizes.  Fishing begins at 5:00am Friday, July 18th with the ceremonial cannon blast at the ADSFR site, and concludes at 5:00pm Sunday, July 20th with the ending cannon blast.

 

The 51st Annual Roy Martin Young Anglers Tournament, sponsored by Exxon- Mobil, will be held Saturday, July 12th.  Last year we set a record with 1,518 anglers 15 and younger participating in the RMYAT. The weigh station at the ADSFR site on Dauphin Island, AL will be open from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.  This event is open to all anglers 15 years old and younger.

 

The Awards Ceremony will be held on Monday, July 21st at the Aircraft Pavilion at Battleship Memorial Park.  The Roy Martin Young Anglers Tournament ceremony will begin at 6:00pm, and the Alabama Deep Sea Fishing Rodeo ceremony will begin at 7:00pm.

The Roy Martin Young Anglers Tournament is our way of trying to promote family values, good sportsmanship and healthy competition among the youth of our community.  Prizes include Daiwa rod & reel combos, Plano tackle boxes, and Souther-N-Bama gift certificates.  Every angler who weighs in a fish will receive a pair of tickets to a Mobile BayBears game, a Zeigler hot dog, a bag of Zapps potato chips, an ice cold Coca Cola, and a Blue Bell ice cream.  All of the proceeds from the Roy Martin Young Angler’s Tournament will go toward the annual Children’s Christmas Shopping Tour sponsored by the Mobile Jaycees.

 

The festivities for the Alabama Deep Sea Fishing Rodeo will kick-off with the Bud Light Liar’s Contest on Thursday, July 17th at the ADSFR site.  Rodeo ticket holders can participate in the competition by telling their best, or worst, fish tale.  Prejudging will begin at 6:30 p.m. with the finals starting at 7:30 p.m.  A “distinguished” panel of invited judges will determine the winners.

 

Every angler in the Open Competition who weighs in a legal fish will be entered into a drawing for a

21’ Contender Boat with a Yamaha outboard motor, Loadmaster trailer, and Performance Towers T-Top. 

 

In addition to the ADSFR Open Competition, anglers may also enter any of our Jackpots.

 

The Boater’s World Big Game Jackpot pays cash for the largest Tuna (Yellow fin or Black fin), Dolphin, and Wahoo. There will be a drawing among all anglers who enter a fish in the Big Game jackpot for a Team SIMCO and IMM Boatlift.

 

 

The Paradise Marine / Scout Boats King Mackerel Jackpot pays cash for 1st through 10th place in the open division with 1st place guaranteed to receive $15,000 and 1st place in the 23 ft. and under division.  The recreational division pays 1st through 10th place with the payouts based on the number of entries. There will be a drawing among all anglers who enter a fish in the King jackpot for a 17' Scout 175 Sportfish boat with a Yamaha outboard motor and a Loadmaster trailer.

 

The Yamaha Motors Speckled Trout Jackpot pays cash for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place.  There will be a drawing among all anglers who enter a fish in the Speck jackpot for a 200hp four-stroke Yamaha Outboard.

 

There is a MANDATORY Captain’s Meeting and Sign-Out for all boats entered in the Boater’s World Big Game Jackpot and the Paradise Marine / Scout Boats King Mackerel JackpotThe meeting and sign-out will be at the ADSFR site on Thursday July 17th @ 6:00 p.m.
